This October, join us for a brand-new immersive theater experience at Navy Pier exploring a once-famed genetic plant lab with an artistic twist at Garden of Decay. Follow the tale of a grieving botanist’s desperate quest for resurrection, guided through handcrafted art installations by audio narration.
Travel through the five stages of grief and organic decomposition through a multi-sensory experience. The five stages of grief are interpreted by Chicago artists who bring a unique visual twist to this immersive experience.
After visiting the Garden of reCreation, step into a menagerie of interactive art, themed vendors, botanical cocktails, stunning décor, and late-night entertainment.
Explore the art of taxidermy with The Insect Asylum. Sample the creativity of Typecast Poetry with the creation of a personalized, typewritten, poem. Send a letter to the dearly departed via the Postal Service for the Dead. Add to your home décor and curiosities by creating a DIY cloche. Update your look with tooth gems or temporary botanical or memorial tattoos. Music, tarot card reading, and engaging performance art will also add intrigue and surprise to the evening.
Select times during the event are family-friendly, while the atmosphere transforms into an 18 and up experience as night falls after 7:15PM. VIP upgrade includes two drink tickets (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), a commemorative photo from Photogenic, and a ticket for the botanical DIY activation Make & Take. Food, beverage, and merch sold separately. Parking not included.
